And compared to gaming mice around the $100 price point, the G305's PTFE feet don't glide quite as smoothly, and clicks can feel hollower. As previously mentioned, you don't get a ton of extra buttons and the mouse doesn't support USB-C charging. In exchange for falling into the budget category, this mouse does give up some features that more premium mice integrate. At that price, it's an absolute steal for incredible performance that is literally game-changing. Despite its $50 price tag, you'd be hard pressed to find the Logitech G305 for more than $40. The cherry on top of this mouse is that it's almost always on sale. The placement of this mouse's PTFE feet make it glide less smoothly than pricier models. The thumb buttons add a lot of convenience when programmed for finicky tertiary commands, like throwing grenades or using push-to-talk. I've used it across a variety of games, including first-person shooters like Overwatch 2 and Team Fortress 2, survival builders like Terraria and Minecraft, and top-down pixel roguelikes like Nuclear Throne. In all my time using the Logitech G305 Lightspeed, I've never found a need for more buttons. The thumb buttons also feel great, and they're in an easy position to reach in a pinch, without getting in the way. They're clunkier clicks than more premium mice I've tested, but by no means are they unpleasant. The mouse's clicks are easy to actuate, but not overly so. Compared to other gaming mice, this is the bare minimum, but for casual gamers and beginners, this is all you'll need. Most users will keep the majority of these mapped as they are, with the thumb buttons (mouse four and five) free to be programmed for convenience depending on the game. In total, the Logitech G305 has six buttons: left click, right click, the scroll wheel, the DPI switcher, and two additional buttons where your right thumb rests. The thumb buttons are easy to reach, but not in the way. After using mine for two years, I haven't found this to be a problem, but users with easily fatigued hands may want to consider something else. The G305 is also very small compared to other options, meaning users with larger hands or longer fingers may find it uncomfortable to use for long stints. Its symmetrical design doesn't account for the lopsided shape that a hand rests in while using a mouse. On the other hand, the mouse's simplicity means that it lacks the ergonomic comfort of other options. It's a good medium for casual gamers: not so light that your cursor is flying away, but also not so heavy that each stroke is a chore. Though definitely not an ultralight mouse, the G305 is fairly lightweight at only 99 grams. Logitech has also released it in a handful of fun colors, like Mint and Lilac, which sets the G305 apart from your average black-and-neon gaming mouse. In a market saturated with harsh, angular mouse designs, the smooth and symmetrical build of this mouse is a breath of fresh air. The Logitech G305 Wireless (left) and the G203 wired model (right) both come in a range of unique colors.Īt first glance, the Logitech G305 doesn't look like much - but that's one of its best features.

JSHint is a static code analysis tool used in software development for checking if JavaScript source code complies with coding rules. That’s why we put together this comparison: to help you decide which one is right for you.īut first, let’s look at what these tools actually do and how they work. This can make choosing one a little difficult. They’re both quite powerful and offer many options to help you customize your linting experience. The two most popular ones are JSHint and ESLint. Linting tools have been around since the days of C-based languages, but they’re especially popular with JavaScript because of the language’s complexity and flexibility. A linter is a static code analysis tool that helps you write syntactically correct, clean, and readable code. Often they willĪnyone who’s been working on web development for any length of time has probably heard of the mighty linter. Linters are tools that scan your code looking for potential problems. In this article, we’ll take a look at the following topics:īenefits of using ESLint instead of jshint The information here is based on his research, but I have also included my own personal experiences with the two tools as well. I thought it might be helpful to summarize some of the information from this article into a single page for anyone who wants to find out if it is worth their time to switch from jshint to ESLint or vice versa. The article is very detailed and provides a great deal of information about the two linting tools in one place. While researching a new project, I came across an article by Addy Osmani that compares jshint and ESLint. I’ve used both jshint and ESLint over the years, but I haven’t really done a comparison of the two, until now. There are many tools that you can use to find and identify potential problems in your JavaScript code. Now that we understand what linting is, let’s compare JSHint and ESLint. This can be extremely helpful because it allows the programmer to catch these errors before they are deployed to production. The program will report back any errors that are found. Linting is the process of running a program that will analyze code for possible errors. In this article, I will do a high-level comparison between the two.īefore we dive in, let’s go over what linting is and why it is important. They both accomplish the same task - linting - but in slightly different ways. If you are a JavaScript developer, you have probably heard about two popular tools: JSHint and ESLint. JSHint also integrates seamlessly with popular editors like Sublime Text, Vim, WebStorm, Visual Studio, Eclipse, etc. JSHint is restricted to ES5 but has a wider range of options and customizability. Its rules are completely pluggable and configurable, the core rules include best practices and the latest standards. ESLint has built-in support for ECMAScript 6 (aka ES6) and ECMAScript 7. ESLint does everything that JSHint does and more. On the other hand, ESLint is a linter for JavaScript generally used for code quality. JSHint is a code quality tool that flags potential errors in your JavaScript code. We can then create a "unified" file system mount combining these directories using an OverlayFS mount: # Create mount point and empty "workdir" directory required by OverlayFS mkdir /mnt/overlay workdir We start by creating several folders, representing our different mount points, and create a directory structure inside them: mkdir base base/foo base/bar The overlay file system (often abbreviated as OverlayFS) allows a user to "merge" several mount points into a unified file system. The unprivileged user was able (by design) to escalate to root using our binary with the SUID bit set. Going back to our unprivileged user shell, let's run it again. Let's do it as a privileged user and add the SUID bit to it: chown root:root chmod +s setuid To change the ownership of the file to root, we need to be root (by design). setuidĬould not setuid(0): Operation not permitted Let's compile the binary and try to run it, as an unprivileged user: gcc -Wall setuid.c -o chmod +x. The operation will succeed only if the binary is owned by root and if the binary has the SUID bit set. This program attempts to impersonate the root user (UID 0). Let's see a quick example using the following code: # include # include # include # include # include int main ( void ) The SUID bit (for "set user ID") is a special file permission that allows a binary to impersonate the owner of the binary using the setuid system call family, instead of the user executing it. If you're already familiar with these, feel free to jump right to how the exploit works. Major Linux distributions have released dedicated security bulletins to help mitigate the vulnerability, including:īefore we examine in detail how to exploit the vulnerability, let's review two concepts: the SUID bit and the overlay file system. Ultimately, the strength of a cocktail or wine depends on the specific drink and its ingredients. For example, a glass of white wine may contain more alcohol than a vodka cranberry cocktail. While some cocktails may contain a higher concentration of alcohol than some wines, this does not necessarily mean that all cocktails are stronger than all wines. When it comes to comparing the strength of cocktails to wine, it is important to note that cocktails can vary greatly in their alcohol content. A pint of beer typically contains 5% alcohol by volume (ABV), whereas a glass of wine contains 11%. As a result, they are said to contain between 40% and 55% pure alcohol. A typical standard drink is 40% Alcohol by Volume (ABV). Spirits are much stronger than other alcoholic beverages such as wine or beer when measured in volume. Spirits are lower in carbohydrates, sugar, and calories than wines, beers, and ciders. In contrast, there are some types of alcohol that contain less sugar and carbohydrates and have fewer empty calories than others, and these may have fewer health effects. A breathalyzer cannot tell if someone is drunk or not.Īny type of alcohol consumption can have a negative impact on the health of the user. Some margaritas are made with triple sec, which contains a higher alcohol content than other types of margaritas. The other factor to consider is the type of margarita you are drinking. White wine is generally higher in alcohol content than margaritas, giving it a slightly higher level of strength. Between the two, there are a few key differences that can help you determine which one is stronger. However, it is not always easy to decide which one is the better choice. When choosing a drink to enjoy, one of the most popular options is a margarita or a white wine. Much of communication relies on the nonverbal. The practice of being more conscious while listening can benefit your career. When we practice active listening, two outcomes typically happen: You retain important information and the person speaking to you feels understood. It has since been used in fields such as business and education. Ĭarl Rogers originally developed the methodology, sometimes known as “reflective listening,” for psychologists in the 1950s. It is the practice of paying full attention to what someone is saying in order to demonstrate unconditional acceptance and unbiased reflection, according to researcher Harry Weger. Active listening requires much deeper attention and empathy, which ideally leads to a greater understanding. In fact, the average listener only remembers 25 percent of a talk or lecture two months later, according to testing from Harvard Business Review. Oftentimes, we don't retain what we hear. In this article, we'll go over what it means to actively listen and review seven ways you can improve your listening abilities.
